ENVIRONMENT
Artastic is committed to aligning our business goals with careful consideration with regards to our impact on society and the environment.
Since the beginning, we continue to set the standard through our eco-friendly undertakings.

Artastic operations and purchasing decisions undergo an environmental evaluation to ensure all aspects of the business are eco-friendly. This includes consideration of energy efficiency ratings on equipment; production of items that have less ecological impact (CFC's - chlorofluorocarbons, VOC's - volatile organic compounds, lead content etc); accredited suppliers who conform to environmental standards and design of products for recyclability or reuse.
We achieve our environmental goals for BUSINESS OPERATIONS by:
- Turning on electronic devices for use only when needed and turning them off once job function is complete. This reduces electricity consumption and the probability of an electrical fire.
- Using the highest energy saving settings on all of our computers, monitors, machines and appliances.
- Implementation of pleasant greenery, internally and externally to provide an aesthetically pleasing workplace. This greenery also contributes to our eco-friendly policy by providing fresh air and reducing our carbon footprint.
- Usage of grey water facilities that use diverted waste water mainly from non-industrial, domestic processes and non-toilet plumbing systems.
- Minimising ink and paper wastage by not printing non essential emails. Quotes are sent by email, photocopying and printing of necessary documents are done on both sides of the paper and recipients of our promotional printed brochures and any hard copies are encouraged to recycle, reuse or pass material on.
- Use of 100% sustainable plantation paper which is wood grown in sustainable plantations that conserve water and refrain from using pesticides.
- Usage of central heating and air conditioning within the laws of Occupational Health and Safety to ensure the correct level of comfort is allowed without excessive use which would affect our environment.
- Using excess paper and laminate release liner for packaging. Supplier bubble wrap, cardboard, boxes and other packaging materials are also reused rather than discarded.
We achieve our environmental goals for PRINT PRODUCTION by:
- Utilising recycling programs offered by our suppliers. This includes the return of empty ink cartridges and other accessories for safe recycling and/or reuse through refilling.
- Using aqueous based dye or UV inks that do not emit harmful fumes or VOC's that eco and true solvent printers do. This printing technology also does not have the harmful by product of ozone produced with the use of UV curable printing technologies.
- Consistant maintenance of printer printhead consumables to extend lifespan and minimise need for constant changing and discarding of part.
- Using surplus and scrap material to calibrate our machines, perform colour tests, create sample prints, corporate stationery and marketing materials.
- Offering recyclable print media options such as high density polethylene (HDPE) banner material, coated paper and polypropylene as alternatives to other substrates which once used, must be discarded.
- Offering PVC free lamination film which is an eco-friendly and recyclable option for protecting prints.
- Minimising use of hot lamination for print projects, due to unrecyclability of product and emmittance of VOC when polyester film is heated prior to application.
- Using all board substrate offcuts for other print projects and client samples, rather than discarding material and adding to landfill.
- Using RIP software to layout print projects and minimise wastage by arranging artwork to use the least amount of print media.
- Utilising 100% environmentally friendly latex inks for outdoor print applications. This new print technology emits no VOC's, features packaging which is 99% recyclable and provides the option of printing onto environmentally friendly substrates which have no PVC.
